missing the bus

this morning i woke up, and i went back to sleep.  but, when i woke up, i immediately hit the road.  i woke up 5 minutes late.  i missed my bus, so i started walking.  for some reason as i did so i began, as the hours went by, feeling i was back in japan.

the very first time i was in tokyo i got there at like 5:30am.  as the hours went by, and the sleepiness set in all i could do was think, soon, soon, i will be reunited with my friend after her work.

so it was with today.  i had a lunch of tacos then walked around and around after i studied.  i would have watched a movie, but i do not like falling asleep in public places.  so, i thought i would go back to my apartment.  i had time.  but, by the time i looked at the watch, it would have been too tight of a schedule and i would probably sleep 5 minutes too late and miss the evening bus.

so, i sat down to eat some ice cream.  i saw some new friends so we chatted a little.  then, i walked to the different buildings on campus attempting to gather emails for who i need to contact for my music and physics idea on taiko.

so, as i type this and moments before my night class, i feel as if a wave of japan hit me…and i know it is not because of the air conditioner.  it is because of the space between sleep and awake.

About charleswinstead

having lived in japan for 3.5 years i wish to "go back to the island" as often as i can. i lived from 1999-2003. i went back in 2007, then again in 2011. i am a full time teacher, so the best time to go for me is during the summer vacation. it works out well because i love the sensational feelings i get in japan during the summer...especially playing taiko and eating lots of ma-cha ice.
