蝉は何?
Who brings the melody?  What is the sound of summer for you?  Where in the ear does it ring?  When?  Morning, afternoon, evening, night?  How do you feel when it is understood?
For me, playing taiko is the sound of a cicada.  In previous posts and conversations i attempt to comprehend and inform what i mean.  I now think i am closer to getting the resources to make my experiments.  I will need machines to test the wavelengths of the semi and taiko sounds, people to check response, and of course time.
Interesting sidenote:  僕のはじめての日本語の先生の名前はセミヒラです。彼女の漢字が分かりません。このも勉強したい。
Sorry, but the above roughly translates to me having to learn more chinese characters.  I want ti study for my phd in japan.

About charleswinstead

having lived in japan for 3.5 years i wish to "go back to the island" as often as i can. i lived from 1999-2003. i went back in 2007, then again in 2011. i am a full time teacher, so the best time to go for me is during the summer vacation. it works out well because i love the sensational feelings i get in japan during the summer...especially playing taiko and eating lots of ma-cha ice.
