sushi and sashimi

ever since i can remember i have always enjoyed the taste of seafood. there was this time when my family and i would go to the all you can eat buffet and the freshest seafood restaurants on the obx. then, when we moved we used to have fish every week with hush puppies that i would go down and pick up downtown. yummy:)

then, once i moved to japan i discovered the taste of sushi and sashimi. sushi (with rice) is 100 yen for 2 at genki sushi or kappa sushi. instead of paying for a combo meal at a local fast food restaurant every day, sometimes i would ride my daughter’s mother’s scooter up the hill. 1000yen would get me 20 pieces. scrumptous:)
back in the states it is like $50 for 20 pieces. you do the math. and there is more of an art to the name as well as taste. good, but if you want great sushi and sashimi, this is one of the ways i say, “it is worth the price of admission.” in this case admission refers to the airplane ticket.
bon appetit.

About charleswinstead

having lived in japan for 3.5 years i wish to "go back to the island" as often as i can. i lived from 1999-2003. i went back in 2007, then again in 2011. i am a full time teacher, so the best time to go for me is during the summer vacation. it works out well because i love the sensational feelings i get in japan during the summer...especially playing taiko and eating lots of ma-cha ice.
